2040 director Damon Gameau joins stellar line-up of evokeAG. 2020 speakers
Could a carbon tax improve our soils, enhance the quality of our food and help retain our precious water? This is just one of Damon Gameau’s unique vistas for creating a brighter, better world.
Following the global hurrah from his 2014 documentary, That Sugar Film, the filmmaker, director and actor is determined to shine a light on a different problem – climate change. Don’t miss Damon take to the stage at evokeAG. at the Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne, Australia this coming February.
“We can’t do it without our farmers”. That’s the message Damon wants to leave his audience with at evokeAG. 2020. In his latest thought-provoking documentary, 2040, which has already earned selection at Seattle, Stockholm and Berlin film festivals, Damon encourages everyone to adopt practical solutions for creating a brighter, better world. He’ll extend this invitation to more than 1,300 delegates at evokeAG. 2020, the Asia Pacific’s largest agrifood tech event.
“We need to get people moving forward and taking action and whilst it’s important to think about what led to our environmental issues, we know that humans are also driven by positive psychology, they want to hear about solutions,” said Damon.
Since the screening of 2040 in May this year, more than 8,000 teachers in Australia have downloaded the regenerative resources and Damon has been overwhelmed by the response to screenings, especially from unlikely suspects.
“The movement has far surpassed the community engagement from my previous documentary about sugar. Large energy companies and other corporations are getting involved and want to share with their employees what we can be doing to help our planet.”
At evokeAG. Damon will take to the stage to share his insights and discoveries into practical climate change solutions, sharing international success stories and sending us on our own reclamation journey.
“We can’t heal our planet without the help of our farmers but this isn’t about demanding action or ridiculing. It’s about instilling the importance that we can’t do this without their buy-in. Many producers are already open to new approaches to improving soil, putting carbon back into the ground, making our food healthier, tastier and more sustainable. It’s going to take a collaborative effort. There are a raft of solutions which we can all be adopting and I hope we can begin to really shine a light on them.”
