My evokeAG. experience - Angela Hughes, 2020 Future Young Leader

Our youngest Future Young Leader, 19-year-old Angela Hughes was kind enough to sit down with the evokeAG. team and give a wrap-up of her experience of our evokeAG. event.

The Mittagong local has a personal mission for the agricultural sector; to connect the hospitality and agricultural industries so that together, they can better satisfy customer demands. We look forward to seeing big things from Angela in the future.

evokeAG. 2020, what an epic event! I was lucky enough to be chosen as the People’s Choice Future Young Leader, and attend the two-day event this past February.

evokeAG. is a one-stop-shop for innovative ideas and impressive people, to talk all things agriculture. It was so exciting to be a part of the throng of delegates who are leaders, innovators and investors within our agricultural sector. It was two-days of jam-packed ideas, goals and passions all with the same direction, to provide a more sustainable, efficient and successful industry.

Leading up to the event, I was looking forward to be given the opportunity to connect with like-minded people in the industry, to see the roots forming for the future and to share my own passions and vision as one of the chosen ‘voices of the future’. evokeAG. didn’t disappoint.

One of the highlights was getting to meet my fellow Future Young Leader cohort and alumni, it was great to see the 2019 Future Young Leaders also attend and mentor the 2020 cohort. The networking opportunity of connecting with other delegates opened my eyes to the growth and innovation in agriculture that is happening now and into the future.

The takeaways from evokeAG. are endless, I really enjoyed being able to witness incredible keynote speakers such as 2040 film director Damon Gameau and Hungry Jack’s CEO Jack Cowin. The networking was another takeout, and just the information I received from the various panel discussions enabled me to gain a much greater knowledge and perspective on the agrifood tech industry.

I really want to thank the hard work of the team behind evokeAG. at AgriFutures Australia and the Future Young Leaders program partner the Council of Rural Research and Development Corporations. Thank you for enabling such a platform to share thought-provoking ideas and discussions on agriculture.
