Hillridge Technology

Hillridge addresses an inequality in Australian agriculture. Corporate agribusiness can readily access weather risk management tools; but regular farmers lack easy access to those same financial tools to manage their weather risks. Current insurance covers low-probability events like fire and hail, but does not protect against the major weather risks farmers worry about – drought, frost, heat stress and rain at the wrong times. That’s why we built Hillridge Technology. We understand how weather impacts yields and affects livestock.

Our technology platform – used by a global underwriter – enables farmers to protect themselves against the weather risks that most affect their farming operation. Using the online portal, farmers can tailor their policy, get a quote in seconds, and view the status of their contract at any time. Premiums are be based on the likelihood of poor weather based on the farm, not the claims history. The decision to pay comes from a trusted weather data source, not the arbitrary judgement of an insurance assessor. Payments are triggered when certain weather conditions have been met, so they are fast. Hillridge Technology: Financial shelter from extreme weather.
