The Leaf Protein Co

Despite the growing plant-based food market, food companies around the world still predominantly rely on just three plant protein ingredients: soy, wheat and pea. This makes it increasingly difficult for them to diversify and create the next generation of plant-based foods that consumers expect.

The Leaf Protein Co.’s competitive advantages lie in the variety of leaf sources from which we are developing our library of leaf protein ingredients and the IP of our extraction processes. We’ve produced different leaf protein products with different functional and nutraceutical properties using our unique extraction processes.

This allows us to offer ingredients that can be used across multiple food categories, from health foods to plant-based meat and dairy products, as well as mainstream packaged foods.

The Leaf Protein Co. has developed a proprietary buffer solution that helps us produce high quality plant proteins, which are often easily denatured during extraction processes. The thermomechanical extraction processes also help to ensure the “cleanliness” of ingredients.
Our proprietary extraction protocol allows us to offer a complete protein that retains a full essential amino acid profile, high functionality (foaming, emulsification, gelation and solubility) and palatable flavours. The process also produces waste streams that can be further valorised into other high-value food ingredients.
