Recently, several companies have developed ‘wearable’ health monitors, such as ear-tags or collars, that can detect an animal’s general health, activity and location. These devices are a great step forward, but have severe limitations, including size, cost, and inability to detect many important biological traits (such as heart rate and body temperature).
Our technology overcomes these limitations. Implantation of an animal with a VetChip allows producers and vets to receive real-time health data, including heart rate, body temperature, respiratory rate, tissues oxygenation, activity and location. Our device also functions as a RFID-compatible permanent form of identification and is not vulnerable to accidental loss. The health data we collect is stored and analysed in our cloud environment.
Abnormal health events trigger notifications, and long-term health data can be used for any type of biological trend analysis. It will also enhance the accuracy of metabolic calculations and provide other data to improve husbandry.
