Hive Haven
Hive Haven is building a commercial future for the Australian Stingless Native Bee. We have designed an industry specific bee box which maintains a stable temperature and enables the harvest of native bee honey and propolis. The V9 hive technology is an industry first and fills the need to enable bees to be farmed in regions of Australia and overseas that previously were unsuitable due to climatic temperatures.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have used native honey and propolis as a food and medicine source for tens of thousands of years. Current research quantifies the high antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which scientists believe will hold the key to future medical breakthroughs.
Native honey has a unique colour and texture; the sweet but tangy flavour is bursting with bush food wow factor – perfect on wattle seed ice-cream. Today the Australian Stingless Native Bee is gaining recognition as an extremely effective pollinator of this country’s food crops – in essence, it could be the key to our survival.
